Academic job applications: Teaching experience for applications, interviews and campus visits

Facilitator: Drs. Stephen Bonnett and Seul Ki Choi, Nursing
Convener: Stacey Bevan, CETLI Graduate Fellow, Nursing

Whether you just started or are preparing to graduate, learning how to translate teaching experience as a student into job application materials and interviews can be daunting. Join Drs. Stephen Bonnett and Seul Ki Choi for their reflections on recently applying to and accepting assistant professor positions. We will talk through teaching statements, presentations during on-campus visits, and how to discuss teaching during interviews.  This is the first of a series on teaching and the academic job market. Lunch will be provided!

Objectives:

  1. Review writing a teaching statement/philosophy
  2. Discuss job talks as assessments of teaching
  3. Overview integrating teaching experience during interviews

All graduate students are welcome. This event grows out of concerns in the School of Nursing and so may be most useful to students in related fields.

Counts toward the CETLI Teaching Certificate.
