Course Design in the Humanities and Social Sciences
Convener: Didem Uca, CTL Graduate Fellow, Germanic Languages & Literatures
As graduate students, we have taken more courses than we may care to count and have had the opportunity to teach or TA courses designed by faculty. But rarely do we get the opportunity to design and teach our own courses. This workshop will provide an opportunity to think through the various steps of designing a course, from narrowing down a topic, to choosing the readings and structuring assignments and assessments. Participants are asked to bring along either a work-in-progress syllabus of their own design or a syllabus from a great course they have taken.
