Creating a Semester-long Project

Convener: Alexis Rider, CETLI Graduate Fellow, History & Sociology of Science

In this seminar, we will work through the core building blocks of developing a semester-long project. We will discuss scope, source material, form (including the increasingly popular ‘unessay’); as well as how to keep track of student progress. In particular we will focus on how to clarify the different stages of a project (from topic selection to source analysis to drafting to editing to writing), and how peer review as a skill can help students think creatively. Examples of some student unessays will also be discussed.

Counts toward the CETLI Teaching Certificate.
