This workshop focuses on anti-racist approaches to designing syllabi and assignments for courses in English and interdisciplinary courses in the humanities and social sciences. We will discuss how to design syllabi and assignments that focus on multiple approaches to analyzing racialized relationships to power, and which support students’ capacity to read and write critically across disciplines. We will also discuss how to balance the desire for geographic and thematic coverage and the inclusion of a broad range of perspectives with in-depth focus on particular topics. While this workshop focuses on designing syllabi for literature or interdisciplinary humanities or social science courses, graduate students and faculty in all fields are welcome.
This workshop counts toward the CTL Teaching Certificate.
