How to Incorporate Active Learning Strategies into Your Course

Convener: Natalia Aponte Borges, CETLI Graduate Fellow, Earth & Environmental Science

As a TA, one can often wonder how to make the classroom a more active or engaging environment for students. One possibility is structured in-class activities in which students work together to solve problems, interpret data, and engage in real-life applications of their discipline. Empirical evidence suggests that such active-learning strategies help improve learning for students of all abilities. This workshop will help equip TAs to provide effective implementation of active learning strategies, including the design of structured activities and the facilitation of productive group dynamics.

TA Training Follow Up Workshop (for new TAs in SAS). All graduate students are welcome.
Counts toward the CETLI Teaching Certificate.
