How to Solicit and Engage with Student Feedback

Convener: Samantha Oliver, CETLI Graduate Fellow, Communication

When should you solicit feedback from your students? How should you obtain this feedback, and what do you do when you get it? What does it mean to productively engage with student feedback? How do you incorporate this feedback into your teaching? This workshop will address these questions and more as we outline a variety of strategies for soliciting and engaging with student feedback over the course of the semester. We will discuss both formal and informal kinds of feedback, as well as workshop different materials for obtaining student feedback. Participants will leave this session with a greater range of tools for soliciting student comments, as well as a greater understanding of how to draw on such feedback to improve both their individual courses and their overall pedagogy.

Counts toward the CETLI Teaching Certificate. Also counts as a follow-up workshop for SAS participants in TA Training.
