Intersectional Identities Within a Changing Academy

Facilitator: Kristina Lewis, CETLI Graduate Fellow, Education
Convener: Professor Ebony Elizabeth Thomas, Education

This interactive workshop will draw upon participants’ experiences and perspectives as well as case studies to examine the challenges faced by prospective college and university faculty from marginalized backgrounds. Race, gender, sexuality, socioeconomic status, first generation faculty issues, and generational change will be highlighted through whole group conversations, breakout sessions, and a brief presentation, generating resources for pedagogical and practical action. This workshop grows out of concerns in the Education department and so may be most useful to students in related fields.

Counts towards the CETLI Teaching Certificate.
