Leading Effective Office Hours

Convener: Cameron Anglum, CETLI Graduate Fellow, Education

Teaching assistantships fill crucial roles in effective instruction both for undergraduate and graduate students and also provide valuable opportunities for TAs to grow as instructors. TA office hours are often important yet challenging aspects of a TA’s responsibilities. TAs may have some familiarity with what contributes to our detracts from effective office hours stemming from their own experiences as students yet they often receive little if any guidance as to how to conduct office hours. This interactive workshop will help TAs develop strategies for their office hours to maximize their usefulness for enrolled students and to improve TA instructional practices.

Counts toward the CETLI Teaching Certificate. Also counts as a follow-up workshop for SAS participants in TA Training.
