Multimodal Teaching: Creating Different Ways for Students to Learn

Convener: Mercedes Mayna-Medrano, CETLI Graduate FEllow, Hispanic & Portuguese Studies

Our students have different learning experiences and preferences. Some of them enjoy learning through listening, reading, or writing, while others thrive with audio-visual materials, experiments, or field trips. They might prefer to study alone or in groups, and some may be more inclined towards activities online or in-person. As teachers, we need to learn a variety of strategies that can enhance our students’ learning according to the class curriculum. This workshop has two main goals: first, to discuss and learn about different activities that reflect these varied modalities for teaching and learning; and second, to create our own lesson plan so that we can include appropriate activities according to the topic being taught in the class.

TA Training Follow Up Workshop (for new TAs in SAS). All graduate students are welcome.
Counts toward the CETLI Teaching Certificate.
