In the survey courses that we teach, we are often teaching from disciplinary perspectives that may be unfamiliar to our students. How do we openly and honestly discuss the disciplinary frames of the courses we teach, and the limitations they may bring? How do we make (meaningful) space for other forms of knowing in an instructional context? This workshop will address these issues in the context of lesson planning, course description, assignments, and evaluations.
All graduate students are welcome. This event grows out of concerns in the Music department and so may be most useful to students in related fields.
Counts toward the CTL Teaching Certificate.
