Taking Care of Yourself While Taking Care of Business

Facilitator: Professor Michele Margolis, Political Science
Convener: Abigail Dym, CETLI Graduate Fellow, Political Science

The goal in graduate school (and beyond) should be to “work hard, not long” but for many students “work long, not hard” is probably a more accurate description of their day-to-day lives. The goal of this CETLI session–which will blend logistical and emotional advice that is 100% practical–is to get students working harder but more efficiently. In addition to discussing timelines for publishing, how to create a research pipeline, and tips and tricks for carving out research time in a busy schedule, we will also discuss how to use mindfulness techniques to help you stay focused and get that writing done. [BR]All graduate students are welcome. This event grows out of concerns in the Political Science department and so may be most useful to students in related fields.

Counts toward the CETLI Teaching Certificate.
