Using a Variety of Strategies in Class

Convener: Alexandra Brown, CETLI Graduate Fellow, Romance Languages

This workshop is designed to introduce TAs to a variety of strategies to use during classtime. By employing several different techniques throughout the semester, TAs will be able to engage the academic strengths of different students and augment participation by encouraging students to play an active role in their own learning. During the workshop, TAs will build a toolkit of class activities ranging from Total Physical Response exercises to several types small-group formats. Upon leaving the workshop, TAs should feel confident using these different strategies to play to students’ specific strengths or set them up to engage new challenges.
