Working with Struggling Students

Convener: Daniel Wilde, CETLI Graduate Fellow, Management

Students sometimes struggle in classes because they do not receive the help they need. This can be particularly true in the context of online learning. What can graduate student instructors do to mitigate this? In this workshop we will explore strategies to help students both seek and find the academic support they need. You will leave with a guide for how to foster a course environment where students feel safe to approach you and their peers when struggling with course material and with a toolkit to help you meet their needs. We will also review the many Penn resources available to augment the efforts that we as instructors can make.
